Make Water?

Me: now I have a question for you
Me: I asked you this before...
Me: you said we have to go to the building to get the water turned on.....did you call that number Frank gave you?
Kory: yeah it was the water plant where they make water
Me: and what did they say?
Kory: we don't do that here, we make the water
Kory: and then they gave me the right number*
Kory: and we talked about birds
Me: and did you call that number?
Kory: yes and we have to go to the place
Kory: just like when I called before
Kory: do you not trust me?

As if calling on the phone for other utilities isn't a big enough pain, now you actually have to go somewhere to get water transferred into your name! Luckily Kory has nothing to do during the day so he rode his bike up to talk to them. Apparently since we won't have a phone line they have to come put something extra in? This makes no sense to me, but once again it is a huge annoyance, because now someone has to be at the house on the 6th for when they come.

So after hearing "Our first open representative will be with you in approximately 45 minutes to one hour and 5 minutes," and trying to be talked into special deals for dazzling digital cable, everything is set to go. Now we just have to finish packing!

* Three of the five numbers that Frank gave us were the wrong numbers!

Digital Update.

Here are some digital photos of what happens right after I get home from work: spending time with the birds before they scream their lungs out. Only Wally in the photos this time though. Wally is much more shy and reserved than monster Winky, but just recently he has began to trust us a lot more. And he doesn't mind having his picture taken, unlike Winky who attacks the camera and Eleanor who runs as far away as possible.

Skin and Pigtails

I went to the dermatologist for the third time on Friday because of my eczema. I got the usual "Do you have enough medicine? Keep putting it on and come back in three months." So annoying. It's really annoying because he never remembers anything about me. I don't expect him to remember everything I've told him, but every time I go in it's like going in for the first time. I have to tell him when it started, what my symptoms are, etc. This time he asked me something referring to them doing a skin biopsy and I said, "...They never did one." In my head I was thinking, "Do I need one?" And then he said, "Well, I don't think it's anything serious." It's so frustrating because I've never had a chronic problem like this, and I really don't expect that it will ever go away. I've had to change my soap, detergent, lotion, everything. I don't even use fabric softener anymore. I highly doubt any of these products he has me using are vegan. I think after they run out I'm just going back to my old vegan products, because switching products obviously didn't help at all!

I brought my car in today to have my headlight fixed. I sat in the waiting room for over two and a half hours for them to tell me, "The part we need still hasn't come in yet, so if you want you can just go home and we'll call you when it comes in." Ugh. So I go home, and then they call me half an hour later. $40 for some dumb little "pigtail connector". It better work.

Only 18 days until Kory and I move into our house!

I Just Got Pulled Over By a Cop Again!

By the same cop as last time! I had just dropped Kory off at work, and the cop was driving in front of me, then he pulled into a parking lot and turned around, and pulled out right behind me. I knew he was going to stop me! He came up to the car and said, "You know you have a headlight out?" "Yes, you're the one that stopped me last time." He was really nice and said they were stopping people to check seat belts. So he just gave me another warning and said, "Good luck with your headlight!"

Bird-Life Crisis.

WinkyI'm having a bird crisis. I had to move the birds into the spare room the other day because I need to have them in an air conditioned room. This hasn't been working out very well, because Wally and Winky can't stand to be alone for more than two seconds. Winky in particular, he is such a whiner (screamer). Here's a photo of him flapping his wings and screaming at me, which means "Put down that stupid camera and rub my neck!" Whenever I leave the room, he starts screaming, and this starts Wally screaming. Whenever they hear someone walking up the stairs, or opening another door they start screaming ever louder. So today I moved them back into my room since it hasn't even been hot out. Who knows how this will work, nothing I ever do seems to help. I feel bad for Eleanor because now she is stuck in the other room with the budgies. I might bring her in with Wally and Winky, but she really doesn't seem to get along with them, especially if they're all in the same cage. That's a disaster. So for now she'll have to stay with the budgies. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but it drives me crazy. How does one deal with birds with separation anxiety?

Guess What?

I'm married!

Things I (We) Did Yesterday.

  • Went to the bank.
  • Drove past our soon to be new house because we're obsessed.
  • Went to the courthouse and paid Kory's $130 ticket for when the cop ran him over. Kory got yelled at by the metal detector police for having an exacto knife. I told him the sign said not to bring them into the building, but he didn't care. They also made Kory take his belt off, ha!
  • Went and got our marriage license. Kory was forced to take his belt off again. $45.50. Filled out the application, swore that we were not married to anyone else and that we didn't have syphilis, and got the license. Now we have to wait until Jason gets back from Canada.
  • Went out to Mustard Seed and bought fake meatballs, fake chicken (which isn't sold at Krieger's or Top's anymore), and Student Mix (best trail mix ever).
  • Went up to the school and brought all of Kory's painting/collage stuff home.
  • Made spaghetti and meatballs. Mmm.
  • Took a nap.
  • Woke up and ate leftover spaghetti and meatballs. Mmm.
  • Played Mario Party and we won like always. We unlocked a new game that we have never played before, one where you catch butterflies with nets! Almost as good as the bug racing game!

Digital Update.

Here are some more digital photos from the painting room. On Thursday they're cleaning up and throwing out anything anyone leaves behind, so today Kory and I packed all his stuff up and took it home.

Chemistry Finals and Cat Fights.

Cat Fight!Yay! I just got back home from my LAST CHEMISTRY CLASS EVER! Oh it felt so wonderful walking out of there. Luckily I got to come home to an apartment full of screaming birds and this orange kitty outside of my door. And of course I woke up RolyPoly when I came in, and then she saw this visiting cat sitting outside of HER window, and then it was on! She kept flinging herself at the window, fangs showing, ears flattened all the way down (that's why her head looks like a blob in the picture). I kept calling her over and I would brush her, and then she'd look over at that cat and sprint to the window and slam into it. I put the blinds down, but what are blinds to a cat? So instead of having her ruin them, I put one of Kory's paintings up to block the window. Ha! I'm hoping she has more respect for Kory's painting than the blinds! (As I sit here and type this while she and the painting are unwatched downstairs, ha!) I guess I better go check on her and make sure that she hasn't broken through the window or clawed through the wall.

Comprehensive Finals Stink.

This has been the most tiring stressful week ever. I know I probably say that every week. I had my statistics final Monday night at 8:15. The test took so ridiculously long that I didn't get home until almost 11:00. I have never had to use the whole two hours and fifteen minutes or whatever they give you to finish a final. What's even worse is that the test was only 10 problems. Two hours to do ten problems! The first kid that left the class slammed the door and then punched the wall while he was walking down the hallway. Luckily that was my last math class EVER! Unfortunately, when I got home at 11:00 I still had to study for two more finals for the next morning, one of which was at 7:45. Ugh. So I now have only one final left tomorrow, organic chemistry. This is going to be the worst final ever. 14 pages of organic chemistry that is worth more than 1/3 of our grade. Let's hope I pass. I've studied for about three hours today, so we'll see.

Kory and I went over to Frank's (our landlord) house on Monday to sign the lease. Yay! We met his wife, Angie, and their 3 year old son, Dante, who are both as nice and awesome as he is. Frank is the drummer for the Numbers Band, so Kory and I are going to go watch them play sometime.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend when I don't have to worry about school anymore. My apartment is such a mess and all the birds are stressed out because Kory and I have been so busy. I also need to start packing soon. We move in less than a month!

Digital Update.

Here are some miscellaneous digital photos. Some of them are a little old, but that's ok.

I'm Marrying This Man?

If your significant other took a shower at your place, where would you expect him to put his wet towel?
  1. On the towel bar in the bathroom that was meant to hold towels?
  2. In the basket with the rest of the dirty laundry?
  3. Or possibly just thrown on the bathroom floor?
All of the above answers are completely acceptable to me. What is not acceptable is putting your wet towel on MY BED or MY COMPUTER CHAIR! Who does this? Why would I want the back of my chair to be all wet? And it's not like he just tossed it onto the chair, as if he wasn't paying attention to where he put it, it was all nicely folded!

A Few Details.

I can't even begin to explain how great the house Kory and I are getting is. I absolutely love it. Remember when I first moved down to Kent and fell in love with that Victorian carriage house loft? Well this house is a million times better. Some info on the house:

  • It was built in the 1920's and has two stories plus a basement, three bedrooms, a loft, and 1 and half baths (including a claw foot tub!)
  • It's in a nice neighborhood that is really close to the school.
  • A big backyard with lots of greenery and trees, a deck, a little pond, and a shed.
  • Front porch with a swing!
  • The kitchen. Oh goodness, how I do love the kitchen. It's pretty small, but it has a ton of custom cabinets/drawers, beautiful wood ones. New tiles on the floor. A dishwasher, thank goodness. A window! I've never had a kitchen with a window in front of the sink.
  • New doors to the outside, lots of new windows.
  • A stained glass window!
  • A gas and electric hookup for a dryer. I'm thrilled about being able to do laundry at home again.
  • A wood burning stove and a fireplace!
  • Lots of built in shelves/storage, including a built in curio cabinet.

There are so many other awesome quirky things about the layout that I can't explain. I will definitely have to take photos when we move in (June 11th!).

The Good and the Bad.

The Good

  • Kory and I are getting married.
  • We are going to be moving into the best house ever in June.

The Bad

  • I have an organic chemistry test tomorrow morning that I know absolutely nothing about that I have to go study for.
  • There are so many things going on inside my head right now that there is no way any amine chemistry is going to stick in it.
