Okay, Kory's page is up now, so go visit it. His portfolio page isn't done yet, it's probably going to take a while. But his journal is up and he'll probably be posting photos soon.
August 2006 Archives
The light in the bunny room does not have a normal on/off switch, it has a remote. I think it's extremely dumb and lazy, but it was there before we moved in. For some reason, the light in that room has been turning on randomly. Yesterday it turned on 3 times by itself. The other morning I got in the car to go to work, looked over, and the light turned on! I had to get back out of the car and go inside to turn it back off, but of course I had to peek into the room from outside first to make sure there weren't goblins or something that had turned the light on. I'm not sure if this silly remote light switch has anything to do with it, but it sure is annoying. I'm sure the rabbits don't appreciate it when their light blinds them at 2:00 am, and then is on until I come downstairs in the morning. Plus it's just creepy! Go away light goblins!
There is a strange white substance that keeps appearing on my chair at work while I'm sitting on it! I suspect it's probably deodorant, but I'm not 100% sure yet. I really don't understand it. It always ends up around where I sit, and somehow I never end up sitting in it, even after I get up and sit back down multiple times. So will someone please explain to me how my deodorant is falling out of my shirt and sweater and falling onto my chair? And not getting on my dark grey pants and black sweater? It's very strange and embarrassing! It's bad enough to get deodorant on your shirt or something, but your chair! Luckily no one ever comes over to talk to me.
Now for my angry "I don't understand." Look at this dog. Does he look familiar to you? He looks almost exactly like Chompsky to me (except for the white on his muzzle), because guess what, they're probably brothers! This is the same dog warden that we picked Chomps up from. When we got him, the lady there said that someone keeps dropping off these dogs in the middle of the night, usually 3-4 a month! It makes me so angry. Why why why why why is someone breeding these poor pups and then dropping them off at the dog warden? Looking at any of the dogs on petfinder makes me sad and angry, but to see this poor pup that looks almost exactly like Chomps makes me sick. They should set up a camera to catch the person who is dropping these dogs off. Poor pups, I need to go give Chomps a hug now.
Chomps is very afraid of people, but Kory and I finally decided to take him up to the dog park the other day. There are a few photos of him and Big T in the hounds gallery. He actually did really well, we'll definitely have to keep bringing him up.
We went up to Coventry on Friday so Kory could buy some art supplies for school. He likes to go up to Utrecht because he gets a discount. We also stopped and ate at Tommy's while we were there. It was kind of disappointing this time. The chili was nothing but onions! Yuck. I also made Kory get a vegan root beer shake, and it was gross too! He really looks forward to their shakes, so I feel kind of bad.
Kory finally got a new phone. He lost his quite some time ago. We're both on his parents' plan, so because it's in his dad's name, we have to drive up to Elyria any time we need to get something taken care of. His parents also just bought a $22,000 F-150 for $14,000, which is just crazy.
Almost forgot, we were waiting for Kory's dad to show up, so we went over to Best Buy (where Kory used to work) and Kory's old friend Mike Smith was up there! It was great. He screamed Kory's name as loud as he could, ran out from behind the customer service desk and gave Kory a big hug. We used to have good times with Mike (sneaking around the tunnels under LCCC, late night trips to eat tator tots at the Feve, scarf fights!) , so it was great to see him again and make fun of him for still working at Best Buy.
My two new favorite foods that I might just have to live on: watermelon and licorice. Not together of course.
Warning: Kory has been working on his site, so beware!
Okay, off to sleep.
Okay, the new gallery is up. You can get to it by clicking on Digital over in the menu. The old digital section can still be found here for now. From now on I'll be adding photos to the gallery. You can see on the first page it has a recently updated galleries section. So you can go and check there every so often to see if I've put any new photos up. If you find anything that isn't working right, send me an e-mail.
Also, I am not done putting photos in there yet. I have 800+ photos on Flickr alone, and only 200+ in the gallery. So I'll slowly be putting more photos up.
Make sure you check out the photos from the Rose's Rescue reunion a few weeks ago and also the picture of Jake, a lost pup that Kory and I found the other day.
My Flickr pro account expired yesterday, and I haven't decided if I'm going to upgrade again. So for right now it's pretty messed up. With the free account you're only supposed to get 3 sets, and with the pro account you can have as many as you want. When my account expired, they took away some sets, but not all of them. And all the sets are missing images. Like my family and friends set only has one image in it. I think it's because it will only show your most recent 200 photos, but who knows. So I'm not exactly sure why it worked out that way, but it did.
I downloaded a photo gallery template for Movable Type, so I may just end up using that and scrapping Flickr (for the most part). I never really liked the idea of having my photos hosted elsewhere, which is why I've always kept my digital section. Then again, I don't really like the idea of using someone else's template to manage my photos either. But if I get this gallery working properly, it will probably take the place of the digital section. Right now I'm in the process of putting my old photos into it, which is taking A LOT of time. The images in the gallery have to be a specific size, so I'm having to go back to my original images and resize them and make thumbnails of them. And then each image need to have its own entry, and since I have a lot of photos, that means a lot of entries. The templates were made to work between Movable Type and iPhoto, but since I don't have a Mac, things are much more difficult. But I'm working on it. So I might try using this gallery for a while, if I don't like it I'll just switch back to the way things are now. I probably won't be putting any new photos up though until I get everything going.
Given to me by Chompsky of course. I was walking through the kitchen towards the back door to let everyone out, and he was following behind me. He jumped up and ran his paw right down the back of my leg and this is what I ended up with. It hurt like crazy when it happened, it felt like he was cutting my leg open. I have no idea why something so simple as that left me with such a nasty bruise. There's a line down the middle of it where he actually scratched me, and it's all raised up and hard and PAINFUL.
My headlights are messed up again. The headlights on this car are cursed. One of them doesn't work at all, tried changing the bulb and that didn't help. The other one works sometimes. So I've been avoiding driving at night. I can't take it in until at least Friday, so hopefully I won't have to go out past 8:30 before that. I'm pretty afraid of getting a ticket, especially sine I've been pulled over twice when my headlight was out before. And I'm definitely not looking forward to taking it in because last time I took it in to get a headlight fixed, the guy apparently didn't know how to listen. I told him that it was not the bulb. So he changed the bulb, it worked, but as soon as I started driving away it went back out again. So I just had to turn around and go right back. Eventually it got fixed (maybe not since it's messed up again!), but I also had to pay for a bulb that I didn't even need. I hate cars and I hate that a lot of places (car places, vets, doctors, etc.) are not open past 5:00!
In more important news, Atrayou has decided that it's a good thing to poo in front of the back door every morning. So yesterday when I went down to let the dogs out, I stepped in a huge pile of poo. All over my work shoe. This morning, I remembered what happened yesterday, so I looked over by the door and sure enough there was a HUGE pile of poo sitting there. So I was standing there in the fanciest of my fancy work clothes, with Atrayou and Chomps jumping up and down on me, getting very close to stepping in the poo...and I had to figure out a way to get them outside without stepping in it and then jumping up and smearing it all over my fancy clothes. I grabbed Chomps by the collar since he's the one that actually jumps up on me (Atrayou just kind of hops up and down in front of you), and tried to open up the door, and thank goodness it opened up just enough to let them out, single file, without actually hitting the poo. I suppose I could have herded them all into another room and cleaned the poo up first, but I only had like 10 minutes before I had to leave, and I still had to eat something, pack something for lunch, and brush my teeth. And I was still half asleep and not completely functioning yet. But WHY in the world has he pooped in the living room two days in a row? He's such a snot.
Note: My fancy work clothes are not fancy at all. But I only have like three outfits that I wear to work, so chances are that if the outfit I was wearing got poo smeared on it, I probably wouldn't have anything else to wear (the other two outfits would probably be dirty or wrinkled - and no time to iron since I never leave myself spare time in the morning).
I know I haven't updated in forever, things have just been really busy. I had some time to go through my Toronto photos finally today, so here is a set of them over at Flickr.
Amy and Andy have a lot of pictures up over on their site also.
